Mission: The mission of the Christ United Methodist Church Children’s Leadership Team is to provide support to the Christian education program for the Children’s Ministry.
Purpose: Our purpose is to develop a network of support that includes Sunday mornings, special events and other church directed activities in connection with the Children’s Ministry.
Sunday Mornings: Provide a Support Team on Sunday mornings that is available to the congregation of Christ UMC. Including, but not limited to:
• Welcoming new visitors
• Directing parents and children to the proper location
• Supporting teachers with weekly curriculum reminders, Sunday morning visits to classrooms to help with supplies, cover late or unavailable teachers, and in general, support the attendance of both teachers and children in our church
Special Events: Provide a team necessary to plan and execute special events including one grade level event for Kindergarten through 3rd grade, Kids R.O.C.K ongoing 4th and 5th grade program and church wide activities such as Vacation Bible School, Easter Egg Hunt and any other planned activities. The Children’s Leadership Team will be responsible for:
• Recruiting volunteers to plan and execute the events, working directly with the Children’s Ministry
• Attending events, as they relate to individual placements within the Children’s Leadership Team
• Maintaining a “pass down” book for future team members to follow
Teacher Recruitment: Provide support and help the Children’s Ministry with the recruitment of volunteers for the Sunday school program including:
• Develop relationships with parents whose children attend Sunday school, with the objective to broaden the recruitment base in an ongoing, year round effort
• Maintain a close relationship with current teachers to achieve a higher percentage of teacher retention each year.
• Work with the Children’s Ministry in the spring teacher recruitment program including handing out recommitment cards, calling potential teachers, providing assistance to the Children’s Ministry staff in this ongoing effort all year long
Teacher Training and Appreciation:
• Work with the Children’s Ministry to educate the teachers about the curriculum, the Children’s Leadership Team and the Children’s Ministry staff
• Provide meaningful ways to express appreciation and gratitude for the time and commitment that the teachers give to the children of our congregation
