Patron Services
The patron computer card catalog is located near the door of the main library. Materials located in the library are checked out for a period of 3 weeks and those items in the Resource Room, small group study materials, are checked out for a period of 180 days. All materials are returned to the drop box outside the main library.
The collection serves a variety of needs for children and adults: Children’s books and videos, reference materials, recorded sermons, devotional materials, Christian living, Methodism, parenting, fiction, and multiple copies for group study. Contact the library by email at
library@cumc.com.
The CUMC Library is one of the church’s oldest and best kept secrets. The Library is located just off the narthex in the North building in Rooms N155 and N166. Established in 1978 the Library is run by volunteers. To give the patrons as much access as possible the Library is open anytime the church is open. An unmanned check out system allows patrons to use the Library when volunteers are not working.
Card Catalog
The patron computer is located just inside the main Library door, Room N166. This computer allows access to the Library’s card catalog for patrons to search for information by Author, Title, Keyword or Subject. The card catalog can also be accessed via the web at
library.cumc.com.
Books
The Library houses books for all ages. There is a large reference collection containing Bible atlases, commentaries, dictionaries and other materials to support Bible study groups. Various translations of the Bible, books on the gospels, prayer and devotion, Christian Life, health issues, parenting, fiction and biographies are available. The Library has a large section of both fiction and non-fiction children’s books. DVD/study book sets are available at the circulation desk for adult small groups. The Resource Room, N155 houses multiple copies of study books for classes.
Non Book - Items such as Bible lands maps, sermons, videos (VHS and DVD) are available for all ages. Children’s videos are located in the main library (Room N166) and adult level videos are located on the south wall of the Resource Room (N155). Sermons are located in the main library. Previous year’s sermons are archived and can be made available upon request.
Resources
Get Involved
Volunteer - The CUMC Library is run by volunteers. No previous library experience is needed but experience is welcomed. Contact the Library at
library@cumc.com for a list of our current volunteer opportunities.
Make a donation - The CUMC Library accepts monetary and non-monetary donations.
Monetary donations are a lasting way to honor, memorialize or celebrate a loved one or outstanding group. Donations can be made by cash or check directly to the finance department. Be sure to express your wishes for whom the donation honors/memorializes and who the donation is from (group or individual).
Non-Monetary donations of books and other items can be made directly to the CUMC Library in Room N166. We request that only new or gently used books be donated. Because of limited space in the Library it can not always use all donated items. Once items are donated they become the property of the CUMC Library. If the Library can not use all items the excess items will be passed on to another home. The Library shares some of its excess donations with other churches to help establish their libraries.
