The Christ United Methodist Church library contains over 3600 books, including fiction, non-fiction, reference, and of course Bibles and commentaries. The collection includes books for all ages. Some of the library’s collection is featured below. The call-numbers are listed to help you locate the books in the library. This list will periodically be changed to reflect an upcoming season or holiday, new arrivals, or to highlight a theme. Come by the library and browse our collection of books and audio books on cassette tapes. We also have a vast collection of videos, maps and past sermons on tape.

  • A Perfect Day, by NY Times best selling author, Richard Paul Evans. This is a bittersweet story of discovering that the elusive treasures of life are found in the people who love us the most. Also in our library are Richard Evans', other popular books, The Christmas Box and The Letter. Written in 2003, 273 pages Fiction: 813.54/EVA.
  • Abraham: A Journey to the Heart of Three Faiths, by Bruce Feiler, author of the NY Times best seller, Walking the Bible. This work explores the common patriarch of the world’s three monotheistic religions to find the truths that can reunite Jews, Muslims, and Christians of today.   • Blest Be Our Ties, published by The North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Churches. This book chronicles the history of The North Texas Conference from 1960 to 2000. Written in 2000, 280 pages NonFiction: 271/BLE.
  • Crested Butte, by Marilyn Brown Oden. This novel centers around historical events of Crested Butte, Colorado, a mining town, a young girl from New Orleans, and events that will test her courage, honor, integrity and her own survival. This is the first fictional book Marilyn Oden has written. She has written several other inspirational books, including those we have in our library’s collection, Through the East Window, Manger and Mystery, Abundance: Joyful Living in Christ, Wilderness Wanderings, and Hospitality of the Heart. Mrs. Oden is also the wife of our North Texas Methodist Bishop, William B. Oden. Written in 2001, 276 page Fiction: 813.54/ODE.
  • Expressions of Faith, combines the contemporary illustrative art work of Greg Olsen with some of the beautifully written classic Christian poems to create an inspired work for the heart and soul. Written in 1999, 80 pages NonFiction: 811/EXP
  • God’s Little Devotional Books are a series of devotionals designed to inspire, motivate, and help you achieve success through scripture, insightful quotes and thought provoking short illustrations or stories. The library contains separate GLDBs for women, mothers, teachers, men, students, and one on prayer. Approximately 300 pages each, NonFiction: 242/GOD.
  • How to Be a Perfect Stranger, edited by Arthur J. Magida. This guide is meant to help navigate the etiquette involved in other people’s religious ceremonies. Our library has two volumes that cover over 35 religions or denominations and describes such issues as history and beliefs, appropriate attire, guest behavior before, during and after various services, and much more.   • How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth, by Gordon D. Fee and Douglas Stewart. This is a practical approach for understanding the Bible. It is intended to give the reader an insight into the Bible’s meaning in ancient times, as well as, implications of God’s word for us today. Written in 2003, 287 pages NonFiction 220.6/FEE.
  • Kitchen Table Wisdom, by Rachel Naomi Remen, M.D. This collection of stories encompasses true-life experiences of loving, healing, and living that can enrich and sustain us through uncertain times. Also in our library is another of Dr. Remen’s books, My Grandfather’s Blessings: Stories of Strength, Refuge, and Belonging. Written in 1996, 336 pages NonFiction 610.92/REM.
  • Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis. This timeless work makes a case for Christianity and combines the essence of his three previous books, Broadcast Talks, Christian Behavior, and Beyond Personality; which were themselves taken from his own inspirational radio talks during WWII in England. Other books in our library by C.S. Lewis include The Visionary Christian and The Screwtape Letters (on audio cassette). Published in 2000, 227 pages NonFiction: 230/LEW.

In today's modern world, this book strives to give people a tool to help them withstand attacks against the family and strengthen our Christian values with this interactive approach.
